From the moment we are born, our lives were made up of interactions and experiences. These events formed beliefs based on what we observed as well as personally experienced. Ultimately, creating the very person we are today!
As children we are dependent on getting our needs met by others. The most common roles we took on to fulfill the love and attention we needed were by becoming:
- The Achiever- getting good grades/athletic.
- Having Illnesses/Injuries.
- The Caregiver- taking care of others.
- The Struggler- having difficulties.
Some associated beliefs of these roles that we take on may be: I am not enough, I need to be perfect to be loved, my wants and needs come last, nothing ever comes easy to me, or I am not worthy of being loved. Unmet childhood needs will continue to affect a person throughout their lifetime. Until that need is met these beliefs/roles show up in our lives through our behavior, perceptions, and thought patterns. All of which come from the subconscious part of our brain.
Our subconscious mind controls 95% of our lives! It is a super computer that is always alert/recording and working in the background. It uses your emotions, memories, beliefs, values, and habits to create your reactions and behavior of every minute of every day.
